Oticon’s mission statement:  People First - People first is our promise to empower people to communicate freely, interact naturally and participate actively.

Oticon was founded in 1904 when Hans Demant began importing hearing aids to Denmark, he had a personal interest in this field as his wife suffered from a signficant hearing loss.  He continued to import hearing aids up until the 1940′s when the chain of supply was severely affected  by World War II.  At this time the company decided to begin manufacturing hearing aids itself.  Oticon continued to expand and went global in the 1960′s and 70′s.  To date they remain one of the leading manufactures in the world and have introduced many technological advances to the hearing industry.
